How To Reformat Your Windows XP Computer

Not enough memory, spyware is present in your system, poorly maintained system, new pc user. This are some of the reason I know why someone would want to reformat his computer. You need to ask yourself before reformatting you Windows computer. Can't I do something with these problems? Is this the last resort?

If you are reformatting to fix problems with your Windows computer, why not ask someone or search for some tools and products that might help you and avoid the need to reformat your computer. Because doing a complete reformat of your computer will erase the contents of the hard drive and require you to reinstall all software.


Things to do before you reformat your Windows XP computer

1. Backup! Backup! Backup all important information on your computer, as everything will be deleted.

2. Make sure you have your XP product key. ( This is a 25 character key (eg: A1A2A-3B1B2B-C1C2C-D1D2D-E1E2E-).

3. Have with you all your software installation files.

4. Make sure you have all your latest hardware drivers

Reformatting your Microsoft Windows XP pc

1. Restart your PC and press 'DEL' (or the key that boots into your bios) when prompted.

2. Change the boot sequence to boot from your CD drive first. (This varies over different computers)

3. Save settings.

4. Insert the Windows XP disc into the CD drive.

5. Restart the PC.

6. Press any key to boot from CD upon being prompted.

7. Some Files will load.

8. When it asks you if you want to install Windos, push Enter.

9. Read the License Agreement and press F8 when finished.

10. Now choose the partition to install to

11. Select NTFS format procedure. (Note: Not NTFS quick)

12. Setup will continue and eventually restart the computer.

13. When restarted do not boot from the disc.

14. Follow the on screen instructions...
